As far as variety in Molten Core there
isn't really too much in the realm of trash mobs. However, almost every mob is
extremely different and it's very important to know what each mob is capable of.
In this post I'm going to go through and try to reveal some of their secrets.
Also please note that these are NOT like any trash mobs you see in Strat UD or
Scholo. Well to put it bluntly each one of these mobs is just about as hard as a
boss in Scholomance or Stratholme, in some cases harder.
-Molten
Giants and Destroyers-

Molten Giants are a pretty basic fight.
Separate them and put a tank on each, and heal the tank. Giants kick which will
reset their agro, so if one comes for the crowd hold your fire and let the tank
taunt him back. As you get deeper into the core the Molten Giants turn into
Molten Destroyers. Destroyers are difficult in that they have an AoE that does
roughly 1000 damage, so this fight is all ranged, except the tank.
Tactics:
- Two tanks split them, focus fire on one, then destroy the second.
-Firelords-

Firelords are either very easy, or impossible depending on how the fight goes.
You get a tank on him and after a few seconds he will spawn a baby. If left
unchecked this baby will split into 2 babies, and to 4 babies, etc. So if this
isn't taken care of quickly it will soon be a guaranteed wipe. The easiest way
to fight these is to get a tank on one and everyone just AoE the area with
rogues beating on the baby when it spawns. It doesn't take much to kill the
baby. Fire lords also put a debuff on the tank called Incinerate which increases
the fire damage taken by increments of 50 I believe. Solution to this is tank
rotation, if one debuff is too high, simply put another tank on the next one.
Tactics:
- AoE on the tank area with rogues beating on the babies when they spawn.
- Rotate tanks when the Incinerate debuff gets too high.
- Babies are a priority, if unchecked the fight WILL be a wipe.
-Lava Surger-

Personally I find the Lava Surgers to be a fun fight. Basic breakdown of this
fight is Melee makes one group with the tanks and beat on him, while the casters
bunch up and fire. The reason why we do this is the Lava Surger likes to
suddenly break off the melee group, rush into the caster group and then rush
right back to the melee group, and every few seconds he will do a AoE knock down
which really messes casters up, which is why we do 2 groups.
Tactics:
- Form 2 groups melee in front casters in the back and just open up.
-Lava
Annihilator-

Very similar to the Lava Surger except for a couple key reasons. The Lava
Annihilator is one of the easiest fights in Molten Core, and there is no reason
why we shouldn't beat it. In this fight everyone bunches up into one group and
nukes the crap out of the mob. Warriors: THIS MOB HAS NO AGRO TABLE, so don't
panic if you're not holding agro, because you wont. Every 3 seconds or so he
will turn and hit a new target, and move on. We bunch up so melee isn't chasing
him around all over the place.
Tactics:
- Form one big group on him and just nuke him
- Warriors: This mob has no Agro table so do not panic if he isn't hitting you.
- Rogues: This mob has no Agro table so CB Eviscerate all you want.
-Ancient
Core Hounds-

I'm sure we all remember the Beast from UBRS. Well pound for pound fighting one
of these is harder than fighting the Beast if you ask me. There is a lot to this
fight, each Core Hound comes with an AoE debuff that varies with each one. These
include:
-Short stun
-200 Fire resist taken off of your character
-Slowing casting and melee by 50%
-Confusion (Which works like fear)
-30% Stamina reduction
-50% Intellect and Spirit reduction (NOTE: THIS debuff is NOT worth dispelling
until the end of the fight)
Basically the fight goes like this. The Warrior will establish agro and face him
AWAY from the crowd, because each one of these guys likes to breathe fire. Deal
with the AoE Debuff as it comes, and nuke him. Don't forget to skin these.
Tactics:
- Warriors: Face them away from the crowd.
- Debuffs: The 50% Intellect Stamina debuff isn't worth dispelling, the mana you
lost isn't returned, and it will just come up again.
-Ancient
Core Hound Packs-

Each Core Hound in this pack isn't nearly as strong as the single ones, however
that does not make this fight easy. Some of you that went with Confidence to
Molten Core had the tactic to just have everyone bunch up and AoE these things.
While that DOES work there is a better option. Each tank is assigned a corehound
to to tank (by /assist whom ever is assigning targets), and tanks them. Everyone
else AoE's the pack while rogues give a little love to each of the targets
individually. The catch with this fight is ALL the Hounds need to die around the
same time or they will "rekindle" and come back to life. When this happens it
usually ends in a wipe. Each one of these things can also put a bleed on
whomever its attacking that stacks. This bleed can and will stack to I kid you
not: 15000 damage over 30 seconds. This bleed can NOT be removed, so healers be
wary.
Tactics:
- Warriors tank your assigned target
- AoE the target area
- Rogues spread your love around, don't over DPS a single target.
- ALL HOUNDS MUST DIE TOGETHER, if they don't we WILL wipe.
-Lava Packs-

These may look like just 2 Firelords and 2 Lava Annihilators grouped but it is
not. This is one of the places in Molten Core where EVERYBODY puts on all the
fire resist gear they can muster. This fight will kill people, there is no way
around it, usually somebody dies in this fight. As you can probably guess this
is a group pull, so here is what we do. Warlocks will banish the 2 Lava Reavers
(Rock Elemental things) and 2 tanks will separate and tank the Flamewaker and
Flameguard (the two Fire Elementals). While the Warlocks keep banishing the Lava
Reavers everyone will drop the Flamewaker, and then the Flameguard. When those 2
targets are dead we will move on to the Lava Reavers.
Things to be aware of in this fight: The Lava Reavers need to be faced away from
the crowd or else they will randomly nuke people with a nasty debuff that causes
250 damage per second and stuns you. The Flameguard randomly nukes the group,
this is where people die. Each nuke can do roughly 3200 damage and it can crit.
Often times the unlucky player will get two in a row and die instantly, save for
resists.
Tactics:
- Warlocks Banish the Lava Reavers.
- Warriors separate the Flameguard and Flamewaker.
- Warriors face the Lava Elementals AWAY from the crowd.
- Fire resist, fire resist, fire resist!
-Imp Packs-

We wont run into too many of these in our journey through the core,
but it's nice to know what to do when we DO run into them. This fight
is fairly straight forward. Everyone who wears plate goes to the front,
and just runs at them. Mages warlocks, hunters AoE them. The catch with
this fight is the Imps respawn very quickly, I think it's something
like 6 minutes.
Tactics:
- Warriors use a challenging shout and group them up.
- AoE, AoE, AoE.
